It's been a busy several weeks and many things have happened in our lives. Near the end of school James and Kenzie were given awards for the top in different area of their grade. James was honored as Top male student in science in 8th grade. Kenzie was honored as top female student in band or orchestra in 7th grade. (both have their dad's talent of music by the way) Kenzie was also awarded for her service to the school as a member of the 7th grade student body office. Both are excited for the challenges that lay before them next year, but are enjoying their busy summer vacation.
James was also inducted into NJHS, National Junior Honor Society the week before this award assembly.
Both Cami and Olivia had a birthday during the last couple of weeks. Olivia was excited and knew that she wanted a birthday party and a bike. Livi was very thrilled with her party. The next weekend Mark and I looked through several stores trying to find the right bike for her. She was thrilled with what we found. After getting up on the bike (she's still adjusting to the taller height) she rode it for nearly an hour. You can tell by the big smile on her face how excited she is.
Cami is completely opposite of Olivia. She know we are still struggling from the unexpected job change and told us the only things she wants for her birthday is to go to the movies as a family. We are still waiting for our poignant little girl to decide what she would like to do. (The family movie night is a given.)
On June 17th we had the opportunity to tour the Oquirrh Mountain Temple. The day was beautiful as was the temple. My heart was touched during the tour as I took in the beauty of this temple and all the dedication my stake, ward and family have put in to hosting, cleaning and being part of security for this beautiful house of worship and learning.
Mark was impressed with the tapered flutes on the pillars, both in and out of the temple while the kids were interested in the scorch marks on the angle Moroni and Livi, as always, was interested in the water and even found a small leak in the fountain.
The next few weeks slow down slightly as we have no birthdays to celebrate. James will be finishing his summer P.E. class (no he didn't fail gym class, he's taking this during the summer so that he can take seminary and continue taking band and Spanish). Kenzie will go to girls camp and then Qakcrest on back to back up coming weeks. About mid July things will definitely slow down and we can spend some quality family time together doing summer activities.
